I believe CrossRoadsNews is a community information gem in allowing residents to express their opinions about topics of interest. In reading the June 5 Forum section, I was amused by the article written by Vernon “Mr. CEO” Jones.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt has many quotes, and one which I believe can be applied to the illogical thinking of Vernon Jones is, “Never underestimate a man who overestimates himself.” Perhaps Vernon should spend some time in understanding this quote by FDR.

Many of DeKalb County voters are well aware of doings of Vernon Jones as was evident by their refusing to support him in his failed bid for the U.S. Senate.

The arrogance of Vernon Jones is well-documented by his past action and his willingness to do and say anything to trick the voters into thinking he has their best interest at heart. Mr. Jones called it a “miracle” because he has been the only person in DeKalb County who believes MARTA needed to be expanded.

I would pray Congressman Hank Johnson does not ever demonstrate the kind of inept leadership of Vernon Jones.

Here are a few of the facts Vernon Jones doesn’t want the voters of the 4th District to remember:

- Recently, DeKalb County had to defend and lose a racial discrimination lawsuit because of Vernon Jones.

- Vernon was also the subject of a rape.

- Vernon gave county contracts to campaign contributors to build sidewalks to nowhere.

- He put his personal attorney Joy Walker as chief judge of the DeKalb Recorders Court, which had been a complete failure.

- Vernon refused to support candidate Barack Obama for president and later sent out a misleading campaign flier implying he stood with then-candidate Obama.

In fact, Vernon Jones was a paid member of the GOP Foundation, which costs $1,000 per year. At one point, he had his attorney Joy Walker send me a letter threatening a civil lawsuit because of private comments I made about him.

I can say from my viewpoint, Washington does not need any more self-serving members like Vernon Jones. Fourth District voters would do well to continue letting Vernon Jones do what he does best – campaign for public office.

The voters should look at the record of Congressman Hank Johnson and decide if the congressman should be re-elected.

The real miracle will be for Vernon Jones to retire from his desire to be in the public arena. Anyone paying attention only hears from Vernon Jones when he is campaigning for public office or is a subject or defendant in a criminal or civil case.

The voters of the 4th District should seriously consider if someone with the lack of political integrity, arrogance, self-serving and vindictiveness of Vernon Jones should get their vote as the congressman from the 4th District.

Mr. Jonathan Smith, if it is your real name…you are either suffering from some degenerate visual disease or you are truly as ignorant as the comment you wrote regarding the article written by Mr. Elrado Ramsey of Decatur. Mr. Ramsey’s photo is included with the article and he bears no resemblance to me what so ever. Additionally, I have no reason to submit articles under an assumed named. I am proud of the name my mother provided me with.

Allow me sir to refresh the mush you may erroneously refer to as your brain regarding the article I wrote concerning Mr. Vernon Jones.

There was no bitterness in the article I wrote regarding Mr. Jones just facts. There are a number of persons and you are included in the group who are so illogical when presented with facts will draw a conclusion completely contrary to the facts and points presented.

These illogical individuals then attack the writer not on the facts or points presented but personal comments about the writer whom they do not know.

Your comments regarding Mr. Jones is exactly what I and others have stated concerning Mr. Jones character. As you stated in your comment you encountered Mr. Jones after his failed U.S. Senate campaign. Mr. Smith, did you not expect Mr. Jones to appear down to earth and take pictures with potential voters?

Mr. Jonathan Smith not only do you suffer from a degenerate visual disease; your common sense of rational deduction is also impaired.

Mr. Jonathan Smith, Mr. Vernon Jones and any supporter of Mr. Vernon Jones, I offer this challenge to you provided you have the intestinal fortitude to accept.

Here is the challenge, there were (8) points stated by me in the article I wrote. Should you or any of Mr. Vernon Jones supporter prove with facts the points in the article are false, bitter, hateful, based on envy, or any of the other stupid comments made about me rather than the content of the article I will give you $100.00.

For the record a fact must be supported by two true statements. I trust you Mr. Jonathan Smith, Mr. Vernon Jones and other supporters of Mr. Jones know what truth is. You can post your response here and if there are no responses posted then I will conclude you are just like the Political Scoundrel you support. You will say anything but the TRUTH.

Mr. Jonathan Smith and those who support Mr. Jones and don’t think character matters please cast your vote for Mr. Jones. I am sure there are far more voters in Dekalb County who (kNOw) the real Vernon Jones who is power hungry, arrogant, vindictive, self-serving and lacking political integrity and will not cast their vote for the Political Scoundrel.

Jerry,

Unlike you I do NOT have the amount of time you seem to have to sit on blogs and research people all day. Yes I support Mr. Jones and when I have a spare moment I VOLUNTEER with his campaign. I believe in engaging myself in the political process and being active in my community to make a POSITIVE RELEVANT impact. The best way for me to express the truth concerning Mr. Jones, was to contact the person who matters more than bickering with you, that is Ms. Parker the editor of this paper. Once again, constiuents, including myself, would rather focus on the issues concerning OUR district. I don't have the time to go back and forth with you. I exercised my 1st amendment right just like you did. Now I have a career and REAL work to do so this will be my last post. As my dad always taught me don't argue with fools listeners don't know which is which.

Ms. Kena S. Searcy, I now understand how and why you are such a supporter of your "little messiah” Vernon Jones. It has been brought to my attention you actually work for the Vernon Jones Campaign which explains your support for Mr. Jones.

Your attempt to present yourself as a voter and nothing more is in step with the deception presented by your "little messiah".

In the future before you get called out on who your are just acknowledge up front your character is no different than the political scoundrel Vernon Jones whom you work for...LOL

Ms. Kena S. Searcy, welcome to the open forum of public debate where anonymity for COWARDS is unacceptable. Your willingness to now sign your name real or not is an indication you are ready to engage in the open forum of public discourse.

You began your comments with the statement “There were several facts in my June 12 comments that were stated incorrectly” about your “messiah” Vernon Jones. You failed miserable in supporting the very premise of your leading statement.

Ms. Searcy, my comment regarding the sidewalks leading to k(no)w where is fact. Perhaps if you were to travel outside of the three major streets you mentioned you also will know what 100’s of residents of South Dekalb County are aware of everyday they drive pass or walk on short sidewalks that lead to know where.

Perhaps, you reside in a very remote area of South Dekalb where there is little if any traffic concerns. However, the roads I and many others travel in the South Dekalb area are always congested.

Ms. Searcy should you re-read my article without the supporting bias you have for Vernon you should comprehend there were 8 points stated in the article. Your statement the points were stated incorrectly is your opinion and you failed to point out what was stated incorrectly.

For the record Ms. Searcy, I have no personal animosity toward your “messiah” Vernon Jones. However, I do have complete disgust for political pimp’s who will do and say anything to deceive people into thinking he/she has the interest of the people at heart.

Ms. Searcy, being a REPUBLICAN does not nullify the opinion of a voter in Dekalb County. As a matter of fact Ms. Searcy you should fall down on your knees and thank my God for the REPUBLICAN’S support of the civil rights voting act which paved the road for you to be able to vote un-encumbered. While the Southern Democrats opposed the very privilege of voting you now enjoy.

You should also know when Vernon Jones was meeting covertly with Republican leaders about switching parties to run against former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, I was the ranking Black constitutional officer of the GAGOP who opposed the courtship of Vernon Jones with the GAGOP because of his character. Vernon Jones being a paid $1000 per year member of the Georgia Republican Party Foundation is another example of his willing to do or say anything to get elected. Should you think this point is not a fact, I challenge you to ask your messiah, see if he will tell you the truth. Also, ask Vernon if he voted twice for G.W.B.

You are correct in your assumption the voters would like to hear about the issues and the major issue for me is a political scoundrel as Vernon Jones claiming publicly Hank Johnson is his friend. Friends don’t lie about their intent as your messiah Vernon Jones did to his so called friend Congressman Hank Johnson.

The June 19th article by Vernon Jones “Only love can conquer hate” caused me to realize his response was indeed confirmation of my previous comments and left me wondering if he is an idiot, a liar or the puppeteer of his own delusions or perhaps all three. I challenge you to identify statements in the article which could be categorized as “deeply rooted in hate” and not truth.

If my comments regarding the 4th District voters seriously considering someone who lacked the political integrity, arrogance, self-serving and vindictiveness as you are words deeply rooted in hate then I am in the company of many in Dekalb County who have experienced these character flaws you so often have demonstrated.

Mr. Jones, according to you every media outlet, the Eleventh U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a Federal Jury and I were all wrong in describing your actions as racial discrimination and the $2.53 million cost the taxpayers of Dekalb County paid defending your version of a non-discrimination case is not a fact.

Perhaps you recall these statements filed with the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal. In case you miss-remembered please read.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, “in 2001 DeKalb embarked on a wholesale plan to replace its white managers with African Americans. There is “shocking evidence of “an overt and unabashed pattern of discrimination.”

In sum, this evidence showed compellingly that Jones, as the CEO, was the architect of a racially discriminatory scheme, a scheme that was designed to produce overt discrimination the plaintiffs suffered. ( page 31) Because a REASONABLE OFFICIAL would have known that discriminating against county managers on account of their race was unlawful, the district court ruled correctly in denying the defendants “Dekalb County, Vernon Jones and others” qualified immunity.

Mr. Jones, because the jury did not find anyone guilty of discrimination does not mean it did not occur. Please read D.C. Docket No.04-02462-CV-WSD July 31, 2009. Filed U. S. COURT OF APPEALS ELEVENTH CIRCUIT; THOMAS K. KAHN CLERK.

Mr. Jones, you being the subject of a sexual assault is a fact and your comment “This false allegation by a disturbed individual” does not negate the fact you were the subject. Also, a greater concern emerges from your description of the woman and your comparison of the allegation with Duke Lacrosse players. I am reminded of your comments when the “allegations” first became public. Remember, Mr. Jones stating” you learned a lot from a former P.O.T.U.S. sex scandal.” You have a propensity to compare your misbehaving with others who have also shown poor judgment.

Mr. Jones, how does a man such as yourself believes he can only serve his community while serving in an elected position. The men and women I know who create jobs, address home foreclosure, transportation and other issues facing the community and country are not elected officials. Perhaps in your current capacity you have nothing to offer therefore you are just Vernon Jones and the money people have no use for you.

It has been brought to my attention that my response to the comments written by a certain 4th District Candidate and Ms. Kena S. Searcy was perhaps not being read because many readers were not interested in the crap of comments written by the two.

According to the counter the article and comments to the article written by me have over 400 views and untold water cooler comments caused me to re-post my response to the 4th District Candidate and ms. Kena S.Searcy.

I found it quite interesting my challenge to the candidate and Ms. Kena S. Searcy went unanswered considering the two of them made comment which could not be supported by facts.

My re-posting the two responses is again me asking the two to support their comments with fact as I have. I trust the readers will enjoy the response presented to Mr.C.E.O. Jones and Ms. Kena S. Searcy.

Also, I do not responsed to writers who are COWARDS and will not sign their name to their comments.

For those of you who have read the comments of a "Joyce Wyatt" this woman is of no relationship to me.

Our family and people who knew our mother never referred to our mother as "Mama".

The comments of this "Joyce Wyatt" are apparently of someone who is suffering from psychosis.

If you know this "Joyce Wyatt" please contact her physican and check on her to make sure she has not stop taking her medications.

Jerry you ought to be a shame of yourself, Mama didnt raise us like that, you claim to be such a christian and there is nothing christian about this article as well as To all the christians that feel like voting for a budhist is correct, you cant believe in the same God as a christian I was taught to believe in"who stated thou shall have no other God before me" You are the same people that wondered why prayer is out of schools, Same sex marriages is being approved, America has left it foundation in which it was built upon and that is worshiping God the creator of Jesus, simply because you are the ones keep voting these people in office that dont believe in the same God you say you believe in. Your comment is Vernon has no ethics or character the fact of the matter is that he believe in a God that says our sins are covered by the blood of Jesus, because he knew that ” We All Fall Down But We Get Up” praying asking God not Budha for forgiveness of all our sins. If your walls could talk you would realize you cant throw a stone @ Vernon Jones either but pray that God keep him.

Mr. Wyatt your comments about Mr. Jones clearly shows nothing but jealousy, Mr. Wyatt is the jealousy steming from all your failed election to public offices or is it you just being the house negro doing what the master(Media) want you to do and that is use a black man to put another black man down. The media can get no other race in the world to go against each other like house negroes with slave mentalities such as yourself. I knew you when you moved here from Memphis, Tenn another transplant that should have stayed where they were. I never heard of anything the two CEO’s prior to him has done.In response to your comment about law suits it happened because he gave a person like myself a job whom is black and didnt look over the best qualified people because of the color of their skin which the government has being doing for years. I dont see you commenting or asking white adminstrations with all the qualified minorities why do they still hire 97% whites. But those lawsuits never make it to court. Vernon is not for himself he sacrifice his whole political career to help people and get things done that others said South DeKalb doesnt deserve such as sidewalks, nice parks, state of the art, senior center, performing art center and dont forget that death trap with the roads on Wesley Chapel things that the past or present adminstration dont think the citizens of South DeKalb deserve. But as I recall according to your family you never thought you were black anyway.

Again, thank you for your acknowledgement of your assumptions from my comments. It would be great if you take time to comprehend what is being written prior to writing your comments.

Initially, I was under the impression as “a man” you would provide me with some mental gymnastics in defending my article. Apparently, I was wrong about you so please forgive me for thinking you were equipped to have a conversation with me regarding my comments.

Mr. Mosley, please indulge me the opportunity to respond to your last written comments and this will be my last response to you. It is apparent some who have chosen to respond is responding from an emotional point and I am not emotional about the comments written about me or the comments I have written.

Your last comments Mr. Mosley demonstrate a juvenile or perhaps an elementary understanding of what you were attempting present. Here are two points of interest you should understand.

1. There was a Federal lawsuit filed and a jury found the defendants guilty.

2. The defendants in the case were Dekalb County, Georgia, Former Dekalb CEO, Vernon Jones, Richard Stogner, Marilyn B. Drew and Morris Williams.

For clarification Mr. Mosley of the (5) five defendants only one is an entity, which means the entity can not make any decisions. Therefore the remaining four defendants were found GUILTY of actions on behalf of the entity. Therefore it was the actions (created and maintained hostile work environment created) of the four defendants which was the basis of the discrimination charge and the Federal Jury agreed.

Mr. Mosley you draw conclusions from my comments which simply were not stated in the response to you. I did not offer any defense for the improvements in the area you mentioned. My point was and is, “it is the Tax payers of Dekalb County who are responsible for the improvements in the area you mentioned”. Also, a point you may also consider because of the increase in Taxes in Dekalb County many residents and businesses have chose to relocate.

Mr. Mosley you attribute comments to me which I did not imply. I never commented about the services being available to the residents of Southeast Dekalb prior to Vernon Jones administration. I believe it should be noted Mr. Jones administration directed those services in the area you mentioned because that is where his voting base is.

In closing Mr. Mosley I will share a response with you made by the late Dekalb BOC Lou Walker when I posed this question to him. What is going to be the cost of maintaining new parks coming online when there is no money to maintain the current parks? Mr. Walker replied “we will worry about that when the time comes.” So, Mr. Mosley for the amenities you boast about now will have a cost to maintain. How much in tax increases will it cost the tax payers of Dekalb County or is that a concern of yours.

Mr. Wyatt I appreciate your response but as I clearly stated he was the one discrimination was a trumph up charge. He was not found guilty of reverse discrimination. He was found guilty of creating a hostile working enviroment, but they had to find him guilty of something based of the comments made by Judge Duffey, who refused to allow the jury to enter a not guilty verdict. The context in which I interperated your article made it seem like he committed rape ,not that there were never any formal charges, that to me can be very misleading to your readers. In reguarding to your defense to the improvements to the Lithonia it seems to me that before the Jones Administration we were still in need of those services and wernt getting them. I recall paying my property taxes, water bill, and sales taxes. Are u implying that we were receiving those services prior to the Jones administration?

June 14, 2010
Mr. Mosley

First let me say I respect you for signing your name to your comments. After my last comment to unknown writers I resolved not to respond to any COWARD who commented on the article I wrote and refuse to be identified.

Additionally, you and I both share a commonality in where we have chosen to call home. I moved into Southeast Dekalb County in 1978 and made the decision to remain despite the quality of life changing.

Regarding the improvements in the area of South Dekalb, I would like add a point for consideration by you. It was TAX DOLLARS from those of us who are tax payers some more than others and not the Jones Administration as you stated who are responsible for the improvements in the area you mentioned.

Mr. Mosley, a careful reading of my article you will notice I never stated Mr. Jones was accused of anything. My comment was “Mr. Jones was the subject of a criminal case.”

Again, Mr. Mosley, I never stated Joy Walker was the attorney in a case before the court. I stand by my comment Mr. Jones had his attorney Joy Walker to send me a letter threatening civil action against me and I challenge Mr. Jones and Ms. Walker to publicly deny my point.

You are correct in your statement Mr. Mosley, Mr. Jones was not found guilty during his political career. Mr. Jones was found guilty after his term as Mr. CEO of Dekalb County by a Federal jury and was ordered by said Federal Court to pay $27.750.00 in damages and Mr. Jones called the low judgment a victory.

Below is part of a recorded conversation the jury heard during the trial and perhaps had you completed additional research you would have been knowledgeable of the additional information regarding Mr. Jones Federal Court case.

From the recording Mr. Stone; “Jones wants to hire some fire fighters from College Park, Ga.,

Stone; “Foster had indicated that would not be a good idea.”

Stone; "It would take them 6 to 8 months before they would even know the rules."

Vernon Jones "David I am not buying that you don't have 6 to 8 months to learn the [expletive] rules. I hired you here from Gwinnett didn't I?"

Vernon Jones said 'Let me tell you something David. You said you can't do it? I ain't buying that number one. Number two, Patton said he had 72 hours to cross some kind of river. Some of the guys said we can't do it. You know what Patton said? You know that I have sons of [explitive] like you lined up wanting your jobs to get cross that [expletive] river. Well that's what I am telling you. Now you tell me you can't do it!',"

In closing Mr. Mosley I trust my response to “a man” provides a defense for my article and your comments. I appreciate your comments and look forward to many future exchanges on other matters of social commentary.

It is now time for Mr. Wyatt to answer to a man and defend his article. First and foremost I will say I am a proud resident of Dekalb County and have been for 15 years. All of which were in Lithonia. When I first moved here there were no sidewalks on Fairington Rd, Hillindale Dr, Panola Rd and Marbut Rd. The were hardly any Street Lights, no Water Park at Browns Mill Park, no Traffic Light on Thompson Mill Rd and Panola Rd. No Walmart, no Hike and Bike Trail at Arabian Mountain, so where did it all come from? Vernon Jones and his Administration. Mr. Wyatt the last I checked just because you were accused of something dosnt mean you did it. In reference to the discrimination case although I wasn't physically in the courtroom, I recall Judge Duffy being quoted as saying "If the jury didn't find Dekalb County guilty, I will declare a mistrial" so that sound like discrimination to me, but I am no Law Expert. I also did not hear that Joy Walker was his Attorney in that case or any others for that matter. I did some real research and found that Vernon has not been found guilty of anything in his whole political career other than the trumph up charges of providing a hostile working enviroment, but I don't know of a boss that couldnt be in court for that. 26 investigations and no formal charges and no convictions. I did do some research on you, didn't you run for offie before? Did you win? What party did you run under?

Jerry Wyatt your last statement was correct. I am grateful to live in a country that allows the 1st ammendment right. In this country when someone speaks whether factual or carelessly as a citizen of this country I have the right to critique and question the validity of any information brought before me. Readers also have the ability read not only your opinion of Mr. Jones and the comments below as well as the FACTS of all the candidates' records and make an informed decision on who shall represent them in Congress. Hopefully, you really do understand that attempting to slander someone's character will not go unnoticed nor unchallenged. The fact still remains that your conversation with Mr. Jones has no bearing on the issues at hand in this race. The issues are still jobs, education, foreclosures etc. and until you can help with any of these your comments remain irrelevant. So far this race has been cordial between all candidates and focused on the issues and hopefully it will stay that way. Words are power and as a constituent of the 4th district I refuse to sit back and allow you to write such a reckless OPINION without challenge. This is my constitutional right. Also regarding my intelligence, I along with other 4th district voters are intelligent enough to decipher mess and the real issues. My mother always taught me don't argue with fools because listeners can't tell which is which and on that note I will allow the voters of the 4th district to research Mr. Jones' record and make their own decision based on FACT not OPINION. Good day Mr. Wyatt:-)

I am grateful we live in a country and a congressional district where the citizens can have the illogical belief and faith a man being one of 435 members elected to congress will solve the home foreclosure game, the employment issue and any other issue. Every candidate seeking public office to my knowledge has run on a platform stating he/she will create jobs, better the education system, reduce crime, and any thing else people want government to do for them. I applaud those of you who believe your candidate for congress will go to Washington and do what has not been done in the history of the U.S.Congress. I continue to stand by the points stated in the article I first wrote and the follow up comment..I also stand by my comment of anyone writing comments to be read in a public forum and not sign there name to there comment is a COWARD. I have a sister name Pat and I am for sure you are not my sister "Pat's daughter". There must also be some lack of understanding regarding the comments printed in the Forum section of the CrossRoadsNews paper and the Blog section. I have not posted a Blog this year. However, considering a "Pat's daughter" thinks I am attempting to fill a Blog perhaps I will consider Blogging to give a "Pat's daughter" something to fume about. Kena S. please forgive me for not providing more detail about my conversation with Mr. Jones...there were other people present so the conversation really was not private...in fact the conversation took place at a church...So with that being said please don't get so hyped and write things which may reflect on your intelligence.

my calling you James instead of Jerry shows just how irrelevant you REALLY are! see Jerry was a mouse, a mouse that always chased after and caused trouble for the much taller, dapper and more polished Tom! So Jerry why don't you spend more of your time doing something constructive to help your community rather than trying to fill your blog with half truth's about someone you obviously are infatuated with! and by the way I am Pat's Daughter but more omportant I am a VOTER and I am hiding from NO one !
