Six congregations in Stone Mountain and Lithonia will be worshipping together again in their annual joint Thanksgiving Services.
The services are open to anyone who would like to attend.
On Nov. 23, pastors, musicians and choirs from St. Timothy United Methodist Church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian and Rock of Ages Lutheran will hold their joint community Thanksgiving Service at Memorial Drive Presbyterian at 5140 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain.
This year, Memorial Drive Presbyterian’s interim pastor Mary Jane Cornell, will preach the sermon, and a combined choir of all three churches will perform. The three churches have held the joint service for more than 20 years.

Neighboring churches
In Lithonia, First Afrikan Presbyterian, Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist and Ousley United Methodist churches will worship together on Nov. 25 at Big Miller Grove. First Afrikan’s pastor, the Rev. Dr. Mark A. Lomax, will deliver the sermon at the 7 p.m. service, and Ousley’s choir will sing.
The three churches have worshipped together on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for years. Each year the Panola Road neighbors, rotate the service and pastors Lomax, McCallister Hollins and Bishop Miles Fowler take turns preaching.
