East Atlanta businessman Kevin Johnson is the third person to enter the race for the House District 58 seat vacated by former Rep. Robinn Shipp.
Johnson, who announced June 16, is the third person to enter the November special election to seek the seat that represents portions of DeKalb and the city of Atlanta.
He joins campaign consultant and former state Senate chief of staff Michael McPherson, and Atlanta attorney Asha Jackson in the race.
Johnson, who is the founder and president of Johnson Media Inc., said his “A Better Community” campaign would focus on policies and issues – public safety, community revitalization, employment and education – affecting quality of life in the district.
“I will focus on providing resources and solutions both public and private to reduce crime, to enhance community revitalization, to improve schools, and to create jobs,” he said. “Working together, we will continue to bring about positive change in our community.”
