The nation turns 233 years old on July 4 and there will be plenty of fireworks to celebrate.
From New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia to Stone Mountain Park, the Georgia International Horse Park and Centennial Olympic Park, the night skies will be bathed with spectacular burst of fireworks.
The displays will start at dusk, but on New Birth’s Woodrow Drive campus, the “Family & Friends Fun Day” festivities kick off at 3 p.m. On tap are food, games, rides, rock climbing and live music. The fireworks display will wrap up the day’s events, which end at 10 p.m.
Parking is $10. Game bands and people who walk up are $5 each.

Fantastic Fourth
At Stone Mountain Park, the 42nd annual Fantastic Fourth Celebration on the Memorial Lawn takes place over three days from July 3-5 at 9:30 p.m. daily.
Fireworks will shoot nightly at the end of the 40-minute Lasershow Spectacular, a laser and music show featuring colorful lasers, surround sound, flame cannon and special effects precisely choreographed to music.
Songs including “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “An American Trilogy” and “Celestial Soda Pop” are often played during the laser show. Admission is $10 per car.

Pied Piper Parade
Downtown Decatur celebrates the nation's birth with a parade, fireworks and musical concert.
The annual July 4 Pied Piper Parade begins at 6 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave., and ends at the Decatur Square, 101 East Court Square.
Decatur Commissioners will lead the parade in a mini-fire truck and neighborhood and community organizations can join the parade by either making a float, riding a bike, skating or walking.
At 7 p.m. the Callanwolde Concert Band will perform followed by a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m. from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck.

Fabulous 4th
The sixth annual Fabulous 4th Festival at the Georgia International Horse Park begins at 5 p.m. with children’s activities, military displays, arts, crafts, vendors, car shows. At dark, a large fireworks display will fill the sky.

Fireworks Spectacular
A full evening of July 4 activities begins at 5 p.m. at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta with musical performances by Stokeswood, Infinity Show Band and headliner Vertical Horizon. The evening culminates with the AirTran Airways Fireworks Spectacular. Admission is free.

Largest fireworks display
The 50th annual Fourth of July Celebration at Lenox Square in Atlanta will feature musical performances from the Regulars Band, Sons of Sailors and Party on the Moon.
The festivities kick off at 6 p.m. with a Kids Zone, food concessions. The firework display, which is billed as the largest fireworks display in the Southeast, will follow the performance. Admission is free.
