Kimbro, former director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Clark Atlanta University, will talk about “The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires” beginning at 7:15 p.m.
His appearance is part of the library’s March Festival of Writers.
Noting that in 2009 more than one-third of all African-Americans had no measurable assets, Kimbro writes of how the economic crisis has disproportionately impacted the African-American community.
He examines the lives of a small group who managed to achieve great success.
His work is based on a seven-year national study of the 1,000 wealthiest African-Americans, and critics say “it offers sound and surprising advice about climbing the economic ladder.”
Kimbro received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate from Northwestern University, where he studied wealth and poverty among underdeveloped countries.
