Healthy eating classes for families with kids

Families with children can learn about healthy eating in a series of classes provided by the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.

The one-hour classes will be held on Thursdays from Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 at Salem-Panola Library, 5137 Salem Road in Lithonia, and start at 11 a.m. The schedule:

-- Jan. 10: Your Food, Your Choice. Learn about general nutrition, food choices, and how to prepare quick and easy recipes.

-- Jan. 17: Stress-Free Meal Times. Learn how to de-stress meal times.

-- Jan. 24: Color Me Healthy. Add more fruits and vegetables to your meals.

-- Jan. 31: Winning Ways With Fast Food. Learn to make delicious fast foods for your family.

-- Feb. 7: Keep Yourself Well! Eat healthy and get moving.

-- Feb. 14: Keep Your Health Out of Jeopardy! Make the right food choices to help prevent and/or reduce your risk of chronic diseases.
