Homeowners facing foreclosure or having a tough time making monthly mortgage payments can get help at the DeKalb County Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Workshop on Aug. 18.

During the 8 a.m.-to-4 p.m. event at Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Decatur, they will get to meet one-on-one with mortgage companies or a Housing and Urban Development-approved housing counseling agency.

Participating lenders include Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase and GMAC. HomeSafe Georgia will offer mortgage payment assistance to qualified homeowners. Other participants include the D & E Group and the Council for Community Enrichment.

To get assistance, homeowners must bring IRS Form 4506T-EZ and/or the last two years of tax returns; a monthly mortgage statement; and two most recent pay stubs for all household members contributing to the mortgage payment.

Self-employed applicants must bring their most recent quarterly or year-to-date Profit and Loss Statement. Documentation of other income and two most recent bank statements also are needed. All applicants must bring a utility bill showing the homeowner’s name and property address.

The church is at 4680 Flat Shoals Parkway. For more information, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov or www.akataupiomega.com or call 404-371-6379.
