Church leaders, members and visitors will be wearing hoodies to Victory for the World Church April 15 Sunday worship service to show solidarity for Trayvon Martin, the unarmed Florida teen shot to death by a neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in February.

Dr. Kenneth L. Samuel, senior pastor of Stone Mountain church, asked his congregation this week to don hoodies at the 10 a.m. service, which will commemorate the teen’s tragic death and call attention to racial profiling.

The 17-year-old teen was wearing a hoodie when he was shot to death in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26.

It took protests nationwide and an investigation by a special prosecutor for Zimmerman to be charged. He was arrested April 11 on second-degree murder charges.

Victory for the World Church is at 1170 North Hairston Road.
