Area baseball teams and players can help make history at Redan High School on Feb. 23, when pitching instructor Mike Moseley attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive hittable batting practice pitches thrown in under nine hours.
Moseley, also known as "Mr. 6,000," holds the world record for the most consecutive hittable batting practice pitches thrown under nine hours with 6,400 pitches.
He originally set the record in 2004 with 6,100 pitches thrown.
Moseley broke his original record in 2006 at the Cobb Sports Complex in Marietta. His pitches were hit by more than 750 Cobb County youth and adult baseball players. His 6,400 hittable strikes in nine hours averaged out to one strike every nine seconds.
Those wishing to participate and take swings at Moseley's pitches can register for the 8 a.m. event. Individual players 12 and older can register for $25 and teams of no more than 12 players can register for $300.
Redan High School is at 5247 Redan Road in Stone Mountain. For more information or to register, contact Redan Dugout Club members Joe McCrary at
