Fifteen high school graduates and a community volunteer will be honored June 24 at Toney Gardens Civic Association's 26th Annual Achievement Awards Program.

The graduates will get $200 book scholarships. The civic association has given the scholarships since 1981.

Angela Jones, founder and senior consultant of Ideal Works Consultant Services, will be honored with the group's Outstanding Service award. Her company serves youth juvenile justice detention centers by providing leadership, entrepreneurship and life skills training and non-traditional programming training for the 12- to 17-year-olds. The Smyrna resident said she does the majority of her work in DeKalb County.

In November 2006, Jones joined the Apostolic Triumphant Church International where she serves as the head of the prison ministry.

She also teaches computer classes to senior citizens at the East Lake YMCA, Austin Drive Empowerment and Lou Walker senior centers, volunteers with the American Red Cross, and is a volunteer board member for the DeKalb and Metro Regional Youth Detention Centers.

Commissioner Larry Johnson will be the keynote speaker at the 5 p.m. awards program at Columbia Drive United Methodist Church, 2067 Columbia Drive in Decatur.
