Band party a prelude to Caribbean Carnival

The music will be playing all day and all night on April 15 at the Bands of Georgia Carnival Band Launching in Decatur.

The event kicks off at noon at Champion Muffler Brake & Service, 5978 Covington Highway.

Sponsors of the event include the Atlanta Caribbean Association, Metrolanta Steel Orchestra, Borokeete Atlanta and the Georgia Caribbean Development Committee and Limers Inc.

The band launching is one of the competitive events leading up to the popular Caribbean Carnival featuring elaborate costumes and hynoptic music that will be staged in Atlanta over Memorial Day weekend.

DJ Joel and DJ Junior will be spinning records and Caribbean cuisine will be available.

Admission is $3; children 12 and under get in free.
