Nonprofits who work with economically disadvantaged individuals, families, children, youth or seniors adults can apply for the 2006 General Funds and Victim Assistance Funds grants from DeKalb County starting June 24.

Incorporated nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status can also attend an information briefing from 10:30 a.m. to noon and pick up application packages at the Wesley Chapel-William C. Brown Library, 2861 Wesley Chapel Road, Decatur.

The grants are administered by the county's Human & Community Development Department. The deadline is 5 p.m. on July 29.

Application forms will be available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Human Services Division, the Manuel Maloof Center, 1300 Commerce Drive, Suite 102, in Decatur, or by visiting www.co.dekalb.ga.us, clicking on the "Departments" link, and going to "Human and Community Development."

In addition to incorporation and tax-exempt status, organizations must have a prevention or early intervention focus and meet an urgent community need.

For more information, call Jewell Collins in the DeKalb County Human and Community Development Department/Human Service Division at 404-371-2348 or 404-371-3080.
