For DeKalb residents seeking a good night's sleep, one of the best facilities in the country is right in our own back yard.

The Sleep Disorder Center at DeKalb Medical Center recently became one of three sleep centers across the country to receive recognition in the second annual Best Sleep Facility of the Year Competition. The Sleep Disorder Center, which received an honorable mention, is known for providing specialized expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep problems.

"Thousands of people rest better because of their efforts," said Vern Enge, editor of Advance for Respiratory Care Practitioners, a sponsor of the event along with Advance for Managers of Respiratory Care and Advance for Sleep.com.

In addition to this national recognition, the Sleep Disorder Center has also been awarded five-year accreditation status by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

"Our renewed accreditation and this award recognizes the team efforts of our technicians and sleep specialists in working together to create a program recognized on a national level for high quality," said Dr. Mark T. Pollock, medical director of the center.
