Santa scheduled to arrive at mall on Nov. 11

Ho, Ho, Ho! The jolly fellow is set to arrive at South DeKalb Mall on Nov. I I and he will be in some good company.

South DeKalb Olympians Angelo Taylor and Terrance Trammell, who won gold and silver medals at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and 7-year-old beauty queen Josette Martin will accompany Santa on a parade from Georgia Perimeter College to the mall.

Grand marshalls Vernon Jones, CEO-elect of DeKalb County, and Myra J of the Tom Joyner Morning Show will lead the parade of high school bands and local businesses and organizations.

This will be the mall's second Christmas parade, and will kick off its holiday programming. Like last year, residents will likely line the parade route up Panthersville Road to Candler Road.

Registration for the mall's Lucky Child Contest begins Nov. 2 to 8. Parents can pick up an application for children ages 38 at the mall's customer service counter. The winner will ride with Santa in the parade and be the first to take pictures with him.

The monthly Jazz Concert takes place Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. on the JC Penney Stage.

The Millennium Christmas Series runs daily Nov. 24-Dec. 23 on the JC Penney Stage, with performances by gospel choirs, jazz ensembles, orchestras, dancers and poets. Participation forms are available at the customer service counter.
