Thanksgiving Christmas?

We need to take time to be thankful. As I drive around the neighborhoods in Decatur, including mine, I noticed that some houses are already decorated for Christmas. We have not celebrated Thanksgiving yet! We are barely two weeks into the month of November and we have parents racing to be the first one in their neighborhood with Christmas decorations up. This is very confusing to children because the emphasis shifts from being thankful for what God has blessed us with to greed and materialism. This is tacky and is out of place. As adults, we can make a fool out of ourselves when we do things for show or lack purpose.

Thanksgiving should never be confused with Christmas. Thanksgiving is the time that families come together and give thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for having a job; a place to live; food to eat; good health; a sound mine; a loving husband and a loving wife; healthy children; healthy family members; children that behave, and children that go to school and are eager to learn. We have too much to be thankful for to have to worry about buying presents and gifts. We need to take the time and thank God for what he has done and is doing for us daily. I wish all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving Day with your families.
