Girl hit by car

Please stop children from intersection begging.

I was on my way to breakfast this Sunday morning and I saw a young lady in what looked like a junior ROTC uniform in the intersection of Redan Rd and North Hairston Rd. As she received money from someone in a car in the far right lane the light had turned green and she attempted to run across two lanes to the middle of the road to the divider. She crossed one lane and as she entered the next lane on her way to the inside road divider she was struck by a car. She was actually lifted in the air and spun around 360 degrees.

Whose idea was it to send kids out to busy intersections to beg for money? What happened to fund raising efforts like car washes, garage sales, doughnut and candy sales. What happened to door to door sale efforts?  How about seeking donations from local businesses to support sports teams?

What message are we sending to young people about raising money? If you need money just stand on the corner and beg? What is it going to take to stop this mess?!?!  I fear that a young life is going to be lost for a few dollars.
