Why would one of the greatest churches in metro Atlanta align itself with the likes of Cornel West, a man who has to a large extent, become just as disrespectful of the President of the US as his conservative Republican enemies have?  How would Dr. King feel about Dr. West's tirades against President Obama?  One must ponder these questions, but a closer look at the newly appointed pastor, Rev. William Whatley, may shed some light on this decision.  The former pastor, Rev. George Moore, would never have done such a thing, but then again Rev. Moore did not name drop, as the Rev Whatley has, nor has Rev Moore ever asked individuals to stand up and be recognized by the dollar amount of the contribution a participant was making, as Rev Whatley did, at the recent Toys for Tost Christmas concert held at Saint Philip Church.  One must wonder about the direction this church is headed.

Dr. West's partner, Tavis Smiley, was recently fired from an upcoming King holiday event for the disparaging remarks he has made about the President.  Will the good members of Saint Philip Church fire Dr. West?
