MARTA Pop-Up Stores coming

MARTA says its pop-up locations offer a more convenient option for commuters who prefer not to wait for delivery of cards purchased online.

MARTA commuters can purchase tickets, and reduced fare and Breeze cards at six pop-up shops in DeKalb County through Dec. 12.

The MARTA pop-up shops are scheduled for second Thursdays monthly in Stonecrest, Decatur, Chamblee and Atlanta in DeKalb.

The transit authority says the pop-up locations offer a more convenient option for bus-only riders, seniors, and disabled commuters who prefer not to wait for delivery of cards, which are available for purchase online at www.itsmarta.com.

It said the community pop-up locations also increase the options for applying for reduced-fare cards, which typically are only available at two locations. Proof of eligibility and valid photo identification are required to apply for reduced fare cards.

Commuters can also complete and submit applications for MARTA Mobility service at the pop-up locations.

Virgil Fludd, MARTA’s assistant general manager of External Affairs and Communications, said that convenience is very important to the transit authority.

“We want to make sure that everyone who wants to use our services – whether it’s bus, train, streetcar or Mobility – can easily make the purchases they need to ride,” Fludd said. “We’ve seen the success of pop-up retail locations across a variety of industries, and we believe that bringing MARTA to the communities we serve is good customer service, and that always makes good business sense.”

The pop-up locations, which began June 13, are also taking place in Clayton and Fulton counties.

Altogether, MARTA is hosting 21 pop-up stores in the three counties. The stores open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are located on bus routes.
