Residents can dispose of a host of dangerous household chemicals at DeKalb County Sanitation Division’s household hazardous waste recycling event on March 16.
During the 8 a.m. – noon event, held biannually, at theSanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station in Decatur, the county will take paint and paint-related products, aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals and artist supplies.
The event if free to DeKalb residents with identification. Participants will be limited to 10 gallons of paint per vehicle.
Agricultural waste, ammunition, pharmaceuticals, radioactive materials, bio-hazardous and biomedical waste will not be accepted.
The county says the waste recycling event in partnership with MXI Environmental Services LLC.
The Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station is at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive.
