Movie in the Park screening popular flicks at two parks

Families can see movies and cool down at Browns Mill Aquatics Facility for free during movie night at the park.

Sony Pictures' “Hotel Transylvania 2” will be screened July 24 at Mason Mill Park, and Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time” will be screened July 31 at Browns Mill Aquatic Facility.

The screenings are part of the county’s PG-13 Movie in the Park series hosted by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs department on Tuesdays in July.

"Hotel Transylvania 2" is the second installment in the Hotel Transylvania franchise. The 3D computer animated comedy film was released in 2015. It takes place seven years after the first film, released in 2012. The hotel is now open to human guests.

"A Wrinkle in Time," released in March 2018, is based on the book of the same name. It tells the story of 13-year-old Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles, and the dangerous journey they took in search of their scientist father who had disappeared for five years after he discovered a planet. Directed by Ava DuVernay, the visually gorgeous science fantasy, stars among others Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Storm Reid.

The activities begin at dusk and the movie screenings start at 8:30 p.m. Family should bring blankets, lawn chairs and food.  

Mason Mill Park is at 1406-1458 McConnell Drive in Decatur. 

Browns Mill Aquatics Facility is at 4929 Browns Mill Road in Lithonia.

Admission will be free after 8 p.m. and will remain open until the movie is over.
